We are asking all of our supporters to write to their MPs in advance of the Financial Services Bill Report Stage debate, which is due to be held in the House of Commons on Wednesday 13th January.
Although the ‘breathing space’ legislation has already been passed, the current Financial Services Bill provides a possible opportunity to amend this and improve the scheme before it is implemented on 4th May. At the Report Stage of a Bill, any MP has the right to table amendments and speak to these.
We have therefore prepared a template e-mail text for our supporters to send to their MPs.
Here is how you do it.
Step one: Find out your MP’s e-mail address
You can find out who your MP is by putting in your postcode to the search facility on the Parliament website here
Click on their name, and this should provide with their Parliamentary contact details. Most MPs publish their e-mail address on this page.
Step two: Copy our template text into your e-mail
The template text is available as a Word Document here. Copy this text into your e-mail.
Please read it through and amend it as appropriate. In particular, paragraph three needs you to put in your own details.
Sign it at the bottom.
Step three: Send it, and please copy us in.
